Sip, chill and repeat with my Mango Lassi recipe! This creamy, refreshing, thirst quenching Indian drink is bound to cool you down on a hot day! A lassi is a traditional, yoghurt-based beverage that consists of yoghurt, milk or water, ice, sugar, spices and sometimes sweet fruit, such as mangoes. The ingredients are added to a blender and blended until frothy, silky and smooth. This cold drink is fresh, sweet, rich and couldn’t be more delicious! It’s the epitome of pure bliss in beverage form!
This healthy, smoothie-like beverage is creamy and dreamy, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something you’ll be making on repeat this Spring and Summer. My Mango Lassi recipe consists of frozen mangoes, plain yoghurt, whole milk, honey, ginger and ground cardamon. Mangoes play a starring role in this recipe! This sweet and vibrant fruit balances out the tanginess of the yoghurt and gives this lassi a tropical flair. I love using frozen mangoes in this recipe given their overall convenience, optimal ripeness and the luscious texture this frozen fruit imparts. In the case of frozen mangoes, mangoes are picked and frozen when perfectly ripe, enabling you to enjoy this sweet fruit year-round. If you have fresh mangoes handy, feel free to substitute them on a 1:1 basis for frozen mangoes but add a handful of ice just before blending for that cool and frosty profile. Plain yoghurt and whole milk are added to the mix, imparting creaminess, richness and tanginess. A few spoonfuls of honey give this lassi added sweetness and complexity. Adjust the sweetness to your heart’s content! Two spoonfuls for a subtle sweetness and four teaspoons for a little more decadence. Although ginger is not a common ingredient in a lassi recipe, it gives this cool drink a bit of spice and warmth. A pinch of cardamon serves as the finishing touch, giving this mango smoothie a floral and citrusy flavour profile. All the ingredients combine to create a sweet, tangy, refreshing and satisfying sip!
If happiness had a flavour, this creamy mango drink would be it! My Mango Lassi recipe comes together in 5 minutes, uses a handful of simple and everyday ingredients and couldn’t be easier to make! Enjoy it for breakfast, as an afternoon snack or for dessert. You really can’t go wrong! So, let me show you how it’s done. Grab a spoon and come and cook with me!

Notes:
Fresh Versus Frozen: I love using frozen, cubed mangoes in this recipe. Frozen mangoes are flash frozen when they’re at their ripest, making them a sweet, convenient and low-cost option when fresh mangoes aren’t readily available at your local grocer. Frozen mangoes allow you to enjoy this delicious beverage year-round without worrying about availability and seasonality of the fruit. If you’d like to use fresh mangoes in this recipe, substitute them for frozen on a 1:1 basis. Peel and cube prior to adding to the blender and top with a handful of ice cubes for a frosty finish!
Lighten Up: If you’re looking for a lighter, lower calorie alternative or you don’t have whole milk on hand, simply substitute the whole milk in this recipe on a 1:1 basis with 2% or skim milk or even cold water. The respective whole milk substitutes will produce a thinner mango lassi that is equally as delicious!
