Current mood: Picnic by the Eiffel Tower with a Jambon Beurre! 🇫🇷  C’est magnifique! This sandwich is the epitome of Paris in every bite! Butter + ham + baguette + cornichons = a true French love story ❤️ Let’s bring the Parisian bistro vibes into your kitchen with my quick and easy Jambon Beurre sandwich recipe! It’s a baguette kind of day!
This recipe is inspired by a recent trip to Le Petit Vendôme in Paris, France. Touted as one of the best sandwiches in Paris, their Jambon Beurre is not to be missed while visiting the City of Love. Their famous Jambon Beurre sandwich combines a crusty baguette, thick layers of French butter and thinly sliced cooked ham. Cornichons and exceptional French cheeses are optional add-ons and give this sandwich added tanginess, creaminess and richness. During your next trip to Paris, be sure to stop by this unforgettable bistro, located in the 2nd arrondissement. Indulge in one of their delicious sandwiches, entrees, charcuterie boards, cheeses, salads and desserts alongside some of the best French wines. Get there early to avoid crowds! Bon appétit!

A great Jambon Beurre starts off with a crispy, crunchy baguette. This French bread is known for its hard, crispy and crunchy crust and airy, chewy and dense interior. It’s structure and airy texture serves as the perfect canvas, absorbing thick layers of creamy and rich French butter. If you know, you know - it’s all about the butter-to-bread ratio! Butter makes everything better, but good butter makes all the difference! My recipe calls for unsalted butter as the addition of mini cornichons gives this sandwich sharpness, salinity and tanginess. If you’re a Jambon Beurre purist or pickles aren’t your thing, simply omit the cornichons from this recipe and replace the unsalted butter with salted butter. A hint of salinity is the key to the ultimate Jambon Beurre. The mini cornichons cut through the richness of the butter while also enhancing the sweetness of the ham. Thinly sliced cooked ham is layered over top and complete this little delicious French snack. All the ingredients combine to create a crispy, crunchy, salty, savoury, rich and buttery bite!
This French sandwich is a masterclass in culinary simplicity! Less is more with this classic dish. My Jambon Beurre recipe comes together in 5 minutes, uses a handful of simple and everyday ingredients and couldn’t be easier to make! Enjoy this sandwich for breakfast, lunch, dinner or as an afternoon snack. Whatever option you choose, you really can’t go wrong! So, let me show you how it’s done. Grab a spoon and come and cook with me!

Notes:
Bread Goals: A traditional Jambon Beurre calls for a baguette or French stick. If you don’t have a baguette handy or simply can’t find it at your local bakery or grocer, feel free to substitute it with another crispy and crunchy bread variety, such as Ciabatta. Ciabatta's crispy and crunchy crust and porous and airy interior mirrors that of a baguette. However, if you’re looking for a sandwich with a tender and thin crust and a soft and pillowy interior, opt for a Vienna or Italian roll for equally delicious results.
